I’m sorry, this writing might come off as pretentious because I’m talking about things you can do to make me the happiest girl in the world, but I’m doing this because of the #WritingChallenge.

The topic for this week just happened to be “Ways to Win My Heart!” So, enjoy reading!

A smart and beautiful woman gave birth to me nine months after she married the love of her life.

As the first daughter, everything I wanted, I had. In elementary school, if my classmate had a birthday party, I would dash to my father to give me one too.

So, finding a way to win my heart has always been a strenuous search, but you, my friend, are special, so I will give you a hint about 3 mistakes that you mustn’t do if you want to win my heart.

1. Not talking to me because I look angry 24/7

Once, I asked my friend if I was pretty. Then he replied, “No. Like people are often intimidated by you because you look like someone who knows a lot of things. But you’re not that kind of attractive. You gave out a different vibe.”

Honestly, I used to be so aloof, keeping my distance from everyone. I didn’t have many friends. Heck, I was scared of making ones. The thought of introducing myself to new people gave me a heart attack. Let alone allowing them to enter my personal life.

But I have changed since I met my extroverted boyfriend. Though he still doesn’t know how to win my heart, he surely teaches me a lot of things about being more open to new people. He simply says, “New people, new opportunities. Take your shot.”

Now, I love meeting new people, and though it still gives me anxiety, it’s fun! So, don’t hesitate to talk to me! I’m friendly and approachable now 😃

2. Not minding your own business when you see me limping

Do you like when people stare at you? No? Me too. Unfortunately, it’s inevitable for me.

I was born with a bone disease that makes my right leg shorter than the other. I had to undergo several surgeries when I was little. Doctors had to prevent my bone from bending.

I’m grateful that it doesn’t bend. Though it’s shorter than the normal leg, I’m grateful I can still walk. A few centimeters difference is fine.

But people are nosy, aren’t they? I can accept little kids making fun of me — they’re innocent. Adults, though… sometimes, they’re the worst. Staring at me like I’m an alien from another planet.

So, if you see me limping, go ahead and ask me why or what happened. Don’t stare at me and make me feel like I’m a museum display, ok?

3. Not taking me seriously when I say I feel uncomfortable with the way you treat me

I guess years of childhood trauma made me sensitive. Some things make me feel uncomfortable. When that happens, all I want to do is curl up into a ball and hide in the corner.

But now I’ve learned that the key to solving uncomfortable situations is to let people who make you feel that way know about your feeling, otherwise, how would they know?

I was in a very uncomfortable situation recently. Before I got angry or made reckless decisions, I called my close friends and asked for second opinions. They told me to talk it out, to let those people know how I felt.

So I did.

Though it wasn’t easy because I had to confront them many times. Plus, I had to ask my boyfriend for some help too. But it worked out in the end.

I think it applies to anyone since nobody wants to feel uncomfortable.

That’s all about ways to win my heart. After reading this, do you think we can be friends? 😃
