Sibling Rivalry: I Wanted to Ship My Brother Away

But I also couldn’t imagine a life without them.

When I was a kid, I told my mother not to give me a sister. The main reason was simply because I wanted her undivided attention. Plus, the thought of a sister scared me. For a reason that she might wear my clothes or play with my dolls. Then, God gave me not one but three brothers.

So I make a conclusion that we need to be careful with our mouth — don’t wish for something thinking it won’t happen… (and now I want a sister more than anything…)

Me to God:

I had my first brother in 2000 when I was 4 years old. Well, yes, he didn’t play with my barbie clothes or cooking toys, but I played with his car toys. We grew up together and he influenced me with boys things.

Boys things I mean I played a lot of soccer, bike racing, kite, and fight.

Yes, I fought a LOT :)

Because of all these, I thought I wanted to mingle with the boys, but I was a girl so they in some way rejected me and made me the enemy instead. It was nothing serious but we did throw each other rocks at some point in our childhood.

So, as you can see, I wasn’t a lady-lady back then. I dressed emo and I listened to sad songs, but HEY! I had fun chasing these naughty boys (and ran away from them too).

Why siblings make up without saying sorry?

Of course, I also had countless fights with my brother. We pushed and kicked each other very often. I had kicked his precious part once too. I swear I didn’t know it could risk his future. But the thing about being mad at your sibling is you will makeup without saying sorry.

The only type of apology that we often use is the Act-Like-Nothing-Happened Apology.

Fight? What fight? I don’t remember we had a fight. Works every time. I always go from I-want-to-ship-you-all-the-way-to-Antarctica to okay-I-forgive-you-now-let’s-have-something-to-eat. I hate my brother(s) but I also can’t imagine my life without him. It won’t be as colorful, for sure.

Finally, all I can say is, “Siblings: your only enemy you can’t live without.”
